Christmas tree sales are heading into the last week.  All shifts have been covered but please do what ever you can to spread the word that trees are still available. Trees can be purchased from 9:00 am to 5:00pm by going to Members Services inside the Guelph Y for payment. Volunteers are at the pen from 5:00pm until 8:00pm weekdays. Visa and debit can be used. Every tree sold now is pure profit. Most of all, we want every tree to have a home this Christmas!
The church kitchen needs some attention. We plan to give the kitchen a thorough cleaning. Come and give us a hand. The more help we have the quicker it will be done. Join us on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 9:30 am. If you can help let Lynne Barker know,   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , 519 824-5657.
Food Drive - Let's end 2017 with resounding donations of December's special items of the month ..... canned vegetables and - you guessed it - peanut butter.

The No Parking signs at Jeffrey & Spence Insurance at 130 Paisley St. do not apply to parishioners parking on Sunday. You are allowed to park there if attending services.

Holiness, Woven and Revealed: "Many years ago, I was asked to be a guest on a CBC radio show. My task was to talk about the Marian Antiphons with J├╝rgen Goth, a personal hero. It seemed like an odd thing to have happened, but I didn't want to miss the chance so I took myself for some research not only on the antiphons, but on a new understanding of Mary, the mother of Jesus. In my early church days, like everyone else I guess, Mary was a background figure. Despite the Magnificat, she seemed to be silent and passive, being caught between the plans of a father god and a divine son." To read the reflection  from December 17 go to Trudy's blog: Voices in the Trees.

We are pleased to announce that St. Matthias and St James the Apostle will be participating in the 2018 Doors Open, April 21st. This is another opportunity to showcase our parish and all that we offer the Guelph community. Possibilities include many of the activities we recently offered at our Open House in October. Please speak to Beryl ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , 519-265-1370) if you want to participate in a preliminary visioning process. Closer to the event we will post specific roles you might want to sign up for including "tour guide."
