Family Program occurs on two Sundays each month during the 10:30 am service.  Judy Steers has provided the families with training and resources to implement the program while she is in BC for the semester. Self-directed activities can continue the learning on alternating Sundays.

Our program uses Godly Play, a creative and imaginative approach to faith formation that has its roots in the work of Maria Montessori.  Godly Play uses symbols, beautifully crafted materials, rituals, and silence as well as stories, art and play to convey biblical traditions and practices of the Christian church.  It opens children up to hearing and making meaning for themselves from the stories and practices of our faith.  It is suitable for all ages of children, and adults and parents are welcome to participate in the learning with their children – some families find this is a nice opportunity to connect in a relaxed, creative and spiritual space with their children and learn together.

Judy Steers is a Christian Educator with over 30 years experience working with children and youth in congregations and at the Diocesan and National level.  She is currently doing graduate studies in theology, exploring the intersections of science and theology within faith formation. She is also a Program Associate for Youth Initiatives at the national office of the Anglican Church of Canada. Judy has been a Godly Play teacher and trainer for seven years, and enjoys exploring the wonder of stories with children and their parents.

We meet in the library/children’s room (beside the choir room).  Please come straight to this room as we begin promptly at 10:30.

Dates for Sunday Morning program are:  February 5   & 19, March 5 & 26, April 9 & 30 (April 16 - For Easter Sunday, families will join the congregation. May and June dates TBA.
