CREATION SEASON

The liturgical colour green symbolizes the renewal of vegetation and generally of living things,
and the promise of new life.
Thought of the Week
If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you,
if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive. ~Eleonora Duse

A Christmas Carol

Monday December 3, 7:30 pm – In this one man show, A Christmas Carol is performed as you have never seen it before, as Dickens himself performed it almost a century and a half ago! John D. Huston’s every word, gesture, and movement will make you believe you are watching the great Victorian author himself. Based on Dickens’s specially edited script, Huston gives a lively and authentic performance. Every character comes to life with his or her own voice; each scene is woven out of the author’s own words.
This multiple award winning production of A Christmas Carol is now on its 26th annual tour.

Musical interludes will be performed by members of the original “Vinyl Cafe” Christmas orchestra: Ian Bell, Rick Avery and Judy Greenhill.

Tickets are now available. Contact Judy Greenhill judy.m.greenhill53@gmail.com 519 763 2494.  Also available after the 9:15 and 11:00 am services.

Tea with Bishop Susan
December 16 at 2:00 pm. This is an opportunity to chat with the Bishop. There will be a lunch at noon, followed by a process of packing away our bitterness and getting ready for our new life.

In October we contributed 200 pounds of food to CCSC!! That, combined with the very generous 60 pounds from the 23rd Guelph Sparks, brings us to 1592 pounds year-to-date, with  just over 200 pounds neede to meet our goal of 1800 in 2018. We  can do it. The special items for the Apostles in November are canned meat (tuna, salmon, chicken), and the ever popular peanut butter.

We are awaiting news of our refugee family’s interview with officials in Israel but we do wish to share with you about how our preparations are going in Guelph. Our collection of household items is coming along nicely. We also have donors who have committed to purchases that will happen when the family arrives. Securing a rental unit will not proceed until we have a specific entry date. As of October 24, our fundraising has reached $16,338.40. We give thanks for all the help, donations, and prayers that support this mission.

Pattern Arising from Chaos Reinventing the Sacred: A New View of Science, Reason and Religion, by Stuart Kauffman. This book was recommended to me by someone whose left brain is far more developed than mine. Kauffman is a complexity theorist, the study of complex and chaotic systems and how order, pattern, and structure can arise […]
