"LOVE ONE ANOTHER"
   PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

Do you enjoy knitting and/or crocheting? Do you want to make new friends or renew “old” friendships with a supportive, caring group of men and women? Would you like to share in laughter, a cup of tea and on occasion cake or other goodies? Then PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY is just the place to be.

It sounds like our group is just for fun and entertainment and of course it is, but we meet for a much more meaningful reason. We meet together once a month because we care about people. We want people to know that they are loved, thought about and prayed for during all events in their lives - illness, bereavement, marriages, births, anniversaries - just about anything you can think of.

Prayer shawls are available at any time. They are a wonderful gift of comfort, warmth, healing and love. If you yourself would benefit by having one, or if you  know someone who, like you, would be blessed by having  one please speak to Adele Fletcher or call her at 519-843-4504 or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.  January 25, 2014 Update

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry is reaching far beyond our St. James Family. Shawls have been sent to England, New Zealand, British Columbia, Alberta and Nova Scotia. Many of you have received a shawl for yourselves or for a loved one. We hear so often how comforting they are and how much our love and caring has meant to those receiving them. Our Ministry includes Leprosy Bandages, hats, mitts, scarves, baby blankets & sweaters. The Baby blankets & sweaters have been  donated to the TAPPS programme at the WMYWCA Most recently we have donated 15 Prayer Shawls to The Spiritual Care Programme at The Grand River Hospital in Kitchener. Alannah facilitates a group of people of all ages who are struggling with traumatic illness and Mental Health. When she heard of our ministry she was overwhelmed by what she learned and wished she had a shawl for each member of her group. We granted that wish for her and will continue to replenish them as needed. Once again she was overwhelmed by the kindness shown. If you, or someone you know, would benefit by having one of our shawls please speak to Adele Fletcher or fill out one of the Prayer Shawl Request forms in your pew. If you love to knit or crochet please join us the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. If you cannot attend our gatherings but would like to be a part of this ministry, monetary gifts are gratefully appreciated or suitable yarn that you no longer use is also gratefully accepted. We are a volunteer group and participate joyfully in this ministry because we care! If you can, please join us! It's fun and rewarding.
